Temporary Tribal Health Opportunity in Northern CA

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and highly skilled PA-C or Family Nurse Practitioner to join a small Tribal health clinic in rural northern California on a locums basis. The opportunity to transition to a permanent role is an option.
This position will provide outpatient primary care to patients of all ages, but mostly adults with multiple, complex, chronic conditions.
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm (clinic closes 1 hour for lunch)
  • EHR: RPMS
  • Patients per day: 10-12
Location & Population: The clinic is a non-profit ambulatory Tribal health clinic first established in 1979 by the Indian Health Service. It serves a population of about 2,000 tribal members from 11 distinct bands of tribes that comprise the Pit River Indian Tribes.
This community is four hours northeast of the Bay Area. It serves both American Indian and non-Native patients, and accepts Medi-Cal, Partnership, Medicare, and most private insurances.
The area is known for fly fishing, hiking, camping, and rafting. This position would be ideal for someone who enjoys living in a rural and naturally abundant area!
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illnesses
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations for adults and children
  • Participate in quality improvement/patient safety projects
  • Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
Candidates must be:
  • Committed to rural and underserved healthcare
  • Compassionate, mission-driven social medicine practitioners
  • Board-certified
